I Never Want to See These Stories Again

In a bizarre fit of pointless productivity, I just spent the last six hours uploading all of my fanfiction for the last three years onto my writing journal, [personal profile] dancerinthestorm . Every story off my now-unused fanfiction.net account, every story I've posted here, even the random stuff I found on my harddrive that I never bothered to post for whatever reason, like the last two chapters of The Dance Lesson. And good gods, but some of those early stories are atrocious. It's actually painful to read them and realize at one point I thought they were quality writing. If I weren't such an OCD completist I'd burn them and salt the earth where the ashes fell. At least now I have them all nice and neat in one place so I can never think about them again.

Tomorrow, if I have the chance, I'm going through and adding all my original fiction, what there is of it - mostly Jake and Shane ficlets and stories from my writing classes. It will give me something to do while I'm trying to think of how to get through the next scene in the sex pollen fic.

*Yawn*

So, my life is really incredibly boring right now. I'm still in recovery mode from school, all my friends are in different states so I can't hang out with them, and my dad's place is kind of in the middle of nowhere so there's nothing nearby for me to do. Mostly I'm watching a lot of TV, staying up until all hours of the night, and then sleeping well into the afternoon. It's nice, but not terribly exciting.

I was supposed to see my mom for the first time since I got home, but she wasn't feeling well, so instead I ended up eating dinner with my dad and one of his clients (or, I think former client). Which was nice enough, but I'm really dying to see my mom. It's only been three months! We made plans to meet up on Friday, and hopefully that won't fall through. *crosses fingers*

What is it lately with comics bringing back/threatening to bring back characters I like? Bart's back, and Kon's back (but Tim's still emo, god), Steve's coming back supposedly, and Ted was in a panel of the Blackest Night preview so now I have suspicions that he might make an appearance in that. It's weird, I should be really happy, but...I don't trust either Marvel or DC not to fuck this up. I'm worried that Steve will be a fake-out, or a clone, or they'll do something really stupid with Dark Reign, or they'll kill off Tony in Invincible Iron Man, where he's getting more and more brain-damaged. And what's the point of having Ted in Blackest Night if they already said Booster won't be in it? Oh Marvel. Oh DC. My faith in you is shaken worse than San Francisco after an earthquake.

Oh hey! I've got a bunch of new people friending me lately, so this is another public announcement: I have Dreamwidth codes, and if anyone wants one, just comment with an email address and I will hook you up until I run out (I think I have eight right now).

I Has A Dreamwidth!

Guess who hit the Dreamwidth code lottery! I've got my account all set up, and now I'm in the queue for importing my journal entries - there's some old entries in this journal I'm a little embarrassed to keep importing to new journal sites, but empty space just weirds me out, and I like having my life backed up across the internet. So far DW looks very shiny and neat, and I'm really excited.

I don't think I'm ready to go all in and leave livejournal forever - there's too many non-fandom people I'd lose track of, for one - but...I don't know. I've been getting increasing wary of LJ and the way that they run things, especially with regards to fandom. The whole scans_daily thing really left a bad taste in my mouth, and it's just one in a list of things they've done that I'm not really okay with. So if enough people make the jump to DW and set up shop there, I might eventually make that more of my permanent home and just keep this as a RL/cross-posting journal. I don't know.

Anyway, maudlin musings aside, I'm very excited about this. I'm [livejournal.com profile] masterofmidgets over there - I thought about changing my name to Dancerinthestorm (...don't ask), but in the end I'm boring and uncreative and hate trying to keep track of multiple usernames, so.
