Bitching, Music, And Boostle

Our laundry room looks like it exploded! I mean, it's normal, especially on the weekends when everyone and their roommate is trying to do laundry, for there to be some back-up, but there's laundry on every machine, piled up on the folding table, and a huge pile of laundry on the floor. WTF? How hard is it to fucking pick up your laundry?! Moreover, don't these people notice at some point that they have no clothes? (some of these piles have been there for days). And it makes it that much harder for people (LIKE ME) who are actually being contientious and trying to move their laundy through. GAH STUPID PEOPLE.

I really shouldn't have joined the fanmixes comm...my harddrive has no room on it at all, but I keep finding new awesome music and having to download it because it is awesome. The speed at which I'm picking up new fandoms lately doesn't help either....

Songs of The Week

The Drinking Song by Moxy Fruvous

And the band played on

As the helicopters whirred.

Drunk on the lawn in a nuclear dawn,

My senses finally blurred..

Sad sort of nostalgic, post-OMAC Boostle song. Booster misses his Ted!

You Are The Moon by The Hush Sound

Shadows all around you as you surface from the dark
Emerging from the gentle grip of night's unfolding arms
Darkness, darkness everywhere, do you feel all alone?
The subtle grace of gravity, the heavy weight of stone

Preeeetty, and reminds me that I need more Pagan and Goddess themed music.

I'm Your Moon by Jonathan Coulter

I'm your moon
You're my moon
we go round and round
from out here it's the rest of the world
that looks so small
promise me you will always remember who you are

New fandom ftw! This is a great (and happy!) McKay/Sheppard song

I'll See Your Heart and I'll Raise You Mine by Bell X 1

What's with the angel
and what's with the devil
They keep swapping shoulders
and I can't tell which from which

I have a hard time believing this song /wasn't/ written with Aziraphale/Crowley in mind; it's that spot-on for the pairing

Don't Ask, Don't Tell by
[personal profile] shaddyr

Don't ask, don't tell - why yes, I'm doing well
they're not tears, it's just dust in my eyes
I love you - just like good friends do
oh god, John, just don't ask anymore
I can't tell you what this feeling's for

I have to admit to preferring pining!John to pining!Rodney for my SGA angst, but it's all good when it's done well, and this is some heart-breakingly sweet SGA filk. *hates on stupid reality*

Persephone by Vixy and Tony

But you only knew me in winter
When the leaves had all finished their fall
Yes you only knew me in winter
So how could you know me at all?

Someone just turned me onto this group, and OMGSOMUCHLOVE. Michelle Dockey's vocals kick 17 kinds of ass, and the lyrics, and the subject matter, and the guitar work, and *swoon*. Ahem. But this is Greek myth, filk style, and it makes me cry. Like, a lot.

The Girl That's Never Been by Escape Key (vocals Michelle Dockey)

It was sixteen years ago, outside an aging movie show
I was found not knowing where I was that night
Not a thing did I possess but an old blue gingham dress
And a faded photograph in black and white

I could try to explain this song by saying it's about Alice and what happened to her after she left Wonderland, but it won't make much sense unless you just listen to the song. So do it. Because it is awesome.

A Sample of the (probably) Angsty Boostle Wedding Ring Fic

If pressed, Booster would have said that he bought the ring because it was shiny.

Booster Gold had always been attracted to shiny things – just look at his suit – and the ring, winking at him from its nest of black velvet in the shop window as he walked past, had certainly been shiny. It was pretty, and he wanted it, and, well, Booster had never been good at telling himself no, and so ten minutes later he was walking out of the jewelry store with the ring in his pocket.

If it made him think of Ted, that was just because everything lately made him think of Ted, who after four months of hard work was almost sort of talking to him again if the world was about to explode or he wanted Booster to order pizza. And perhaps the ring, with its gold band and sparkling starburst sapphire, did evoke that old nickname Blue and Gold, but that was just a coincidence, and nothing to do with why he’d bought it.

It didn’t mean anything.

And then you pitch their laundry that is in the dryer on the floor, and their laundry that is in the washer into the dryer, and pretend to be innocent when people wonder why their laundry which has been there for a good week and a half is lying trampled on the cold, hard cement. Ha.
