OPENING CREDITS:
"Ill Never Tell" - Anya/Xander in the Once More With Feeling ep of Buffy
Hee! This is oddly one of my favorite love songs, since it captures perfectly the idea of being wonderfully, inexplicably in love with someone despite all their flaws, and being terrified anyway about whether you can make it work. Also it has the line "His penis got diseases from a Shumash tribe".
My movie is clearly going to be an oddball romantic comedy about geeks in love. How apt.
WAKING UP:
"Some Tyrant" - Kate Rusby
Well, the title certainly describes the feeling I have toward anyone waking me up before 10 XD. And the lyrics are about...leaving England to find your lost love and fighting snakes...or something? So I am starting the day off with purpose!
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:
"I'm Still Here" - John Rzeznik
Oh god, this captures so well my attitude through high school of "fuck you all, I'm just waiting to leave for college and never having to deal with this again." I was so quietly, passive-aggressively defiant in high school.
FALLING IN LOVE:
"I Can Love You Better" - The Dixie Chicks
So the guy I'm crushing on is with some cutie Barbie girl when he meets me, and judging from the above, I'm going to win him over with my intriguing oddness, jaded fuck you attitude, and...either persistence or ability in bed? Or both.
FIGHT SONG:
"Bruach Na Carraige Baine" - Clannad
*snorts* WORST FIGHT SONG EVER. All low key guitar and melancholy keyboard - how is that supposed to fill you with the bloodlust? Maybe this is the music for the cutscene with the pretty art after the boss gets taken out and we have the obligatory emo symbolism moment (why yes I do lurk in the Squeenix corner of gaming fandom)?
BREAKING UP:
"Sacred Fire" - Heather Alexander
um...wtf? Clearly the break-up has monumentally /fucked/ me up, since I am apparently lighting the fires for my pagan idol to heal my wounded heart. But...he wouldn't love me if I just did something normal like drunkdialling him and calling him a bastard on his voicemail, right?
-
PROM:
"Incantation" - Loreena McKennitt
This is instrumental, but it /sounds/ like I'm going to be having some extremely surreal, possibly extremely drugged sex on my prom night. Score!
LIFE:
"Marching Bands of Manhattan" - Death Cab For Cutie
fits in rather well with the oddball romantic comedy that is supposedly my life - if I start out as bitter angry recluse girl, being in love makes me all happy, whether I want to be or not...and in apparently inclined to melodramatic gestures. I guess I'll be the one in the romantic climax of the movie who's standing on top of a building proclaiming my love or whatever?
MENTAL BREAKDOWN:
"As I Roved Out" - Kate Rusby
I'm going to say that this goes right before the climax, when love interest realizes his barbie girl has walked out on him and has a total meltdown before realizing he's loved me all along. Since it doesn't really work for /my/ mental breakdown.
DRIVING:
"Wrong Again" - Martina Mcbride
*giggles at title taken with lack of driving license/ability*
I have no idea what this has to do with driving, unless it's horribly metaphorical. And I do get introspective in the car, so there is that. This is possibly shown over a weepy montage while I'm driving down the highway through the desert.
FLASHBACK:
"Sun In An Empty Room" - The Weakerthans
Once again, this goes before the song above it - obviously this is the mandatory "oh noes we screwed it all up and break up before we make up" interlude, and here is the scene where I sit alone in our once shared apartment and wallow in how we screwed it up before I lose it and take off on my cross-country drive. maybe the drive is on the way to win him back, since otherwise, what with the falling in love and the dispensing of the other love interest and then the breaking up this movie is way too long.
WEDDING:
"Under Your Spell" - Tara, in Once More With Feeling
...my wedding song is about lesbian sex! Wel, sort of. Mostly about being miserable and alone until finally meeting someone who really understands you, which fits well with the geek love. So my wedding will be all about the redemptive power of true love (and lesbian sex). Hopefully I won't get memory-wiped, break up, get back together, and then get shot and die. That would suck.
BIRTH OF CHILD:
"The Sea King" - Wolfstone
BWAAHAA MY CHILD SHALL RULE THE WORLD!
FINAL BATTLE:
"I Thought You Were My Boyfriend" - Magnetic Fields
*insert obligatory FFVII slash joke here* This doesn't seem to end well...and am I now bitter and jaded again?
DEATH SCENE:
"Every Time" - Simple Plan
That strangely perfect. It's wistful and nostalgic, with an air of "we were completely fucked up and dysfunctional, but we were still stupidly in love, and I wish we could get it back just for a little while." Awwwww.
FUNERAL SONG:
"Long Road To Travel" - Fiona Joyce
Oooooooooh this is so awesome. It could totally be about death...in fact, I'm not sure it isn't about death. "Such a long road we have to travel/will you walk with me some of the way" are really quite good lyrics to have as a funeral song. *hearts*
END CREDITS:
"Any Dream Will Do" - John Barrowman
*grins* this is a nice note to end on! A little sad, a little hopeful. Not really sure what it's supposed to be about (aside from the obvious), but to me it sounds like a starting over song. Yay?
