I was reading a couple Avatar fics today, and I have this to say.
Okay. So it's American-made, Americanized anime. So it's a kids' show. So it's Nickelodeon. So some of the dialogue and plots are silly and cheesy. But really? Given all that? This show is kind of made of win. It's lovely to look at, it has some interesting, well-developed characters (I heart Zuko so much), and the main plot, especially for a kids' show, is engaging, complex, and well-executed. For a show made for a younger demographic, it doesn't pull punches, either, and Nick totally gets props for that. All in all, it's just a really good show.
I really need to watch season 3 now. And the bits of season 2 I haven't seen, even though I mostly know what happened.
On an unrelated note, I have to present a skit on Friday where me and my partner gossip about a friend who was on a date with a guy who got totally plastered and ditched her. *panics*
