For purposes of clarification, Madric is the protagonist of a novel I'm hoping to write. He's a travelling fortune teller. The tarot readings he does are mostly bullshit, but he really can see the future. Also he's kind of a bitch. The unnamed character in the second drabble is Soldier Boy, who will have a name eventually, from the same story. He and Madric go on the run together after he saves Madric's life. Then they have sex.

Trying to get back into the swing of writing things after the flying clusterfuck that was last quarter, and in my search for inspiration, I found this site, which is terribly, terribly fun. And it gave me prompts, and now I am writing them, or trying to, at least. So there will probably be a few more of these, maybe tonight even.

Prompts I won't likely write but someone should:

The legend of King Solomon set at an alpine resort.

What if...Beethoven was directly responsible for the Vietnam War?

The genial and hearty barkeep who seeks his reincarnated love.

The legend of Sleepy Hollow being about a group of secret agents.

Another prompt from here, and this one came out...uh, really angsty? Sorry. And resemblance to a certain caped crusader and his alien boyfriend is merely accidental and caused by the length of time I've spent lately reading DCU fics.

"When characters are alive and turn up, living, before their author, all that author does is follow the words and gestures which they propose to him. He has to want them to be as they themselves want to be. Woe betide him if he doesn't! When a character is born, he at once acquires such an independence, even of his own author, that the whole world can imagine him in innumerable situations other than those the author thought to place him in. At times he acquires a meaning that the author never dreamt of giving him."
