Yesterday was Solstice, and a very fine Solstice it was!
To start off, I now have a big girl bed, rather than a thin uncomfortable mattress on the floor, since we finally got my bed out of storage and put together. Along with my bed, we also got a bunch of boxes of my stuff out of storage, so I spent a good chunk of my afternoon going through them, sorting out things to give away and things to keep. Some of these boxes have been in storage since I went to China - I didn't even know what was in half of them. It was a like early Christmas!
In the evening,
diamminesilver and I went to a concert at Popejoy, courtesy of my grandmother, who got me tickets. It was this neat Celtic Christmas thing - the whole thing was played like it was a traditional Irish country Christmas, so someone would play the pipes, and then someone else would dance, and then someone would sing something, and then there would be a story. Really, really neat, and all the music was of course absolutely lovely. Also, I have never seen someone play the fiddle while doing step dancing. It was totally awesome.
Only not good thing was that I started feeling kind of bad during the concert, a monster headache, and I didn't feel any better when I got home. I think I was running a fever last night - which would explain why I had two blankets on and was still shivering so hard I couldn't fall asleep. And now I'm feeling very blah and icky and my head is still killing me, so I've taken today off to just huddle in bed and read comic books. Woe. Why do I always get sick when I'm home for holiday?
