Oh, And Toph And Sokka Are Awesome, But We Knew That Already

So I finally (finally, FINALLY) finished the series finale of Avatar. I know, I fail epically, it only took me three months. Or, more like 3 years, cause I never saw it when it first aired. FAIL.

Final Thoughts:

1. HOLY FUCK THAT WAS SO AWESOME. The last battle was pretty impressively epic and I have no complaints. Not even with all the shippy ending scenes because whatever, I have fandom. STILL A THING OF BEAUTY.
2. Zuko. Zuuuuuuko. I love you, you sad failtastic angsty puppy. You were prettier than ever in the finale. I'm sorry your sister still kicked your ass. But I am glad you are Fire Lord now, because you deserve it.
3. The reunion scene between Zuko and Iroh made me cry. Literally tearing up. It's just so heartfelt, and Iroh is so wonderful, and...man, they totally have my favorite relationship, I love them so much.
4. While I know they could never have done it in a kids' show and I do like what they did, I almost wish Aang had been forced to kill Ozai. It just would have been such a fascinatingly complex moral dilemma. But hey, I'll take what I can get.
5. Wooooooow Azula. That was the most amazing sequence of someone going completely batshit crazy I have ever seen in a children's program. I knew she wasn't going to get redeemed, but I didn't realize she was going to COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY FLIP HER SHIT. The scene where she is chopping her hair off and crying while her hallucination of her mother talks to her sent shivers down my spine.
6. I wish there was more Hakoda/Bato fic, because they are the only characters for whom my ship is totally set in stone. They just really have a whole Sokka and Katara have Two Daddies vibe going on. WHERE IS THE FIC.

I'm so glad I took the time to rewatch this show, because it really is great. Now I just have to pretend the movie doesn't exist.
