May. 27th, 2009 12:09 amThings I Learned Today:
- The word for the Japanese-American economic relationship (にちべいかんのけいざいてきかんけい、in case you were wondering). Also that salarymen have strange and complicated social lives.
- That Japanese cinema is a strange and wonderful thing. Tampopo was equal parts delightful (I REALLY want ramen now) and WTF (did NOT need to see sexytiem hijinks involving SHRIMP).
- That the door in the basement between the stairs and the laundry room locks now. Which, uh, freaked me the fuck out, I must admit, since I find our basement creepy as all hell. If I had been locked in down there because I didn't bother to take my ID to do laundry, I would have been PISSED.
- That Stanford has more awesome people than I ever seem to realize, including other people who ship Sulu/Chekov. *waves to Introductory*
- That I will never, it seems, find an equilibrium temperature for my fridge where my frozen things stay frozen and my refridgerated things do not. But ice cream sandwiches that have melted out of shape and refrozen, while difficult to eat, are still delicious!
