Busy Like A Very Busy Thing
Oct. 25th, 2009 02:27 amMost Responsible Thing I Did Today: Bought two weeks' worth of groceries at Trader Joe's, including provisions for hanjuuluver and me for Yaoi-Con next weekend. Since our room doesn't have a fridge, there's no restaurants within walking distance, and we are way too cheap to order take-out, we shall feast on udon noodles, carrot sticks, and organic peanut butter. I spent less than 30 dollars all told, too, so I'm pretty happy with myself.
Most Hippie-fied Thing I Did Today: Experimented with a brown sugar facial scrub. Which basically consists of 1t brown sugar and 1T honey mixed together. I've been breaking out ever since I got back to California, and the tea tree oil cleansing pads just weren't helping. But I figured I'd probably be allergic to any of the commercial cleansers. Plus - brown sugar was $1.50 for a 2lb bag that will last me til the end of time. The cheapest facial scrubs I could find were $6.00 for a 5 oz bottle. Which of those sounds like the smarter option?
Most Awesome thing I Did Today: Dyed my hair! I chickened out of going pink because I wasn't sure how it would look over the blue/purple that's still left on my hair (for a color that faded pretty quick, that blue is really sticking around. It's been over a year!), but I did decide on a more reddish purple than I usually use. It looks really awesome! I'd have pictures, but a) I had to use the hall bathroom and b) it looks stupid while it's still wet.

colourofsaying on the comparative merits of two different anthologies of Japanese poetry (ie the Manyoshu and the Kokinshu), and the act that I spent half the evening reading up about papal history and the Borgia family. I'm not even sure how I got onto that topic - it was somehow tangentially related to Roger Casement and the Black Diaries, but I'm not sure how - but the whole thing is fascinating. I love me some good political intrigue, with a healthy dose of corrupt controlling patriarch and a not-so-healthy dose of clandestine poison.
