Not that I'm terribly optimistic about the beginning of our season, since Arsenal did underwhelming in transfers, all our friendlies looked like the same kind of mistakes we made last year, and EVERYONE is injured. But still, even if we're not doing well, at least there will be actual matches to watch and discuss. Which has to be better than the endless rounds of "he's leaving no he's not I saw him eating a popsicle that means he hates England no it was a red popsicle it doesn't count" aaaaaaugh I hate transfer season SO MUCH.
Uh. Football fandom, as it turns out, gets really, really catty during the off-season. Which I probably could have anticipated from the winter break trading wank, but eh, hindsight. Right now I'm actually avoiding the main comms for both my teams - I don't want to see Barcelona fans gloating about rescuing Cesc from a loser team, and I don't want to see Arsenal fans bitch about how he's a traitor and "Barfa" are the evil empire. I'm sad to see him leave Arsenal (and I remain unconvinced that it's a good career choice for him right now), but I can understand why he wanted to go. I'm just glad he's moving to the other team I love, so I'll still get to see him.
Can't we all just go back to focusing on the important things? Like the fact that Arsenal's new bb!midfielder looks like Wenger kidnapped him from a boy band?
