The Menace of the Madniks
Oct. 2nd, 2010 09:36 pmNow, I'm woe-fully out of touch with the real world, so I didn't even know that there was a Blue and Gold episode of Batman: the Brave and the Bold coming up until it was already out and the squee post was up on
boostle. But as soon as I found out about it I had to watch. And OMG.

I'M SORRY, I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE SOUND OF ME CRYING ALL THE TEARS IN THE WORLD. I just...oh man, it's like the wonderful, wonderful writers of this show did their research for this episode by hanging out on LJ for a week reading sadface Boostle fanfiction and turning them into an epic bromance checklist. "Let's see, how many times have they touched each other in the past five minutes?" "I don't know, but throw in a couple extra hugs anyway. And more pining! We don't have enough pining!" It's beautiful.
Also, this line made me lol forever:
Ted (talking to Booster and Batman): "You're both my friends, okay! You're more of a work friend, and Booster's more of a...fun friend." IS THAT SO TED?
And I...okay, I have some very specific narrative kinks when it comes to Booster/Ted stuff set after Ted's death, most of which has to do with the public acknowledgment of grief and mourning and that Booster was in love with him at all. As frustrating and wrenching as it sometimes is, I like reading and/or thinking about that dawning moment when a previously dismissive character realizes what Ted's death meant to Booster. I also like to see Booster admitting that he hasn't moved on or emotionally dealt with Ted's death in any meaningful way, or actively fighting to stop himself from moving on - like, say, by traveling back in time to hang out with Ted. What I'm saying is, this episode pushed A LOT of my buttons.
ALSO TED CALLED BOOSTER THE BOOSTMEISTER. THIS EPISODE WINS THE UNIVERSE FOREVER.

I spent the whole time wailing "TED WHEN YOU DIED SO DID OUR SPECIAL MEADOW". No lie.
I was telling my housemate about this episode as I was watching. She barely even knows who they are and she agreed it was just that gay.
