Screw You, Expensive Private University
May. 17th, 2008 02:46 amIt has been in the mid-to-upper nineties for the past two days. I live on the third floor of a building with no air conditioning. I feel like I'm going to die. Words cannot describe how miserably, sweltering hot our room is - and we can't even leave the windows open, because the window on my roommate's side is missing the screen, and leaving it open results in HOLYFUCKBEES and me falling off my bed in shock/horror (I don't like bees, shut up). Not to mention that we are on the side of the building that a) has no trees/other buildings in front of it, and b) faces the sun pretty much the entire day. SO FUCKING HOT IN HERE.
Tomorrow I'm getting my lazy, cheap ass down to the shopping center and buying a fan (roommate agreed to cough up for half the cost, which is cool of her, and hey, she's suffering too) so that I will be able to sleep at night again. In the meantime, I shall continue to vent my rage at Stanford for sucking so hard. I mean, really! Last time I checked, our endowment's almost as big as Harvard's! We're paying them 40,000 dollars worth of tuition a year! (well, okay, I'm not, but somebody is) And with that, they still can't be arsed to put AC in the dorms? WTF STANFORD I HATE YOU RIGHT NOW.

Date: 2008-05-17 06:40 pm (UTC)But yes, it is FUCKING HOT AUGH.
My roommate's screen is popped off (by my roommate) and she leaves her window open all the time, which results in me getting eaten by a lot of bugs. She left for a weekend in San Francisco and left it open (and actually, having the windows open without a fan is bad, because it means that it's as hot inside as it is outside). I'd close it but to do so I'd have to climb into and across her bed, which is unacceptable.
Figures my roommate would make my life difficult even when she's not here.

I don't really have huge hate for Stanford right now... renovating entire dorms to install AC seems like it would present lots of logistical problems. Is summer break long enough for them to do it? If not, students would probably bitch about ongoing construction...
I think it'll pass soon, anyway. Until them I'm running around in a bikini top and shorts blarg but that DOESN'T HELP MY IMMENSE SWEAT MUSTACHE LOL
