Doctor Who?
May. 22nd, 2009 10:08 pmI signed up for the free trial of Netflix this afternoon to watch a movie for my religions class (Tampopo - it's about ramen!), and with all this free media at my fingertips, proceeded to waste the entire day watching television.
Noah's Arc was a two season series on LOGO about a group of gay black men in LA and their melodramatic love lives. I started watching it because the lead actor's hair was so adorable, but I kind of fell in love with it. It's a lot like Queer as Folk, if all the characters were black and not completely repellent people. (Why no I'm not a QAF fan, how did you know?) Like, they are actually mostly nice people, even the obnoxious manslut (I've been doing a running commentary to
colourofsaying , and about every fifth line is RICKY YOU ARE INAPPROPRIATE). There is less casual drug use and less an attitude that monogamy is as desireable as the clap. And the lead actor, Darryl Stephens, IS SO CUTE. And I'm not as aware as I feel like I should be about the black gay community, which the show deals with a lot (and pretty much no one in the show, from the leads down to the extras, is white, which was a little weird at first and then not at all really), so that's cool. AND DARRYL STEPHENS IS SO CUTE.
And now I'm watching Doctor Who season two, because I feel like a failure of a geek every time I have to admit I've only seen the first season. And it's not that I don't like DW, because I love the characters and the ideas and every episode I've seen. I'm just so bad about watching things, I never quite manage to get around to actually watching it. But now I am catching up a bit! David Tennant is wonderful. But you already knew this.
Perhaps later there will be Due South! I want to see Fraser and Ray crash a plane in the frozen Yukon. I love seeing bad things happen to Fraser. I am a horrible person.
