So apparently my dad is getting married. Um, yeah.

Please excuse me for a moment while I find a quiet corner to go to and freak out.

Really, is there any non-jarring way to receive news like that? Even if you're mostly expecting it (which I, well, wasn't), it's just...difficult.

I don't know, I just, this is complicated in a lot of ways. Most of which have a lot less to do with the woman my dad is engaged to (whom I really do adore) and a lot more with just my dad, and things he's done, and things I don't know if he's told her or not, and just...gah. I don't want to be old enough to have to try to be mature about this, I really don't.

Also, this means that I will have a step-brother. WTF please?

Ah, no. I don't think you're being neurotic and bitchy. I think it's perfectly reasonable. If my dad got engaged to Carol I'd definitely be ambiguous about it, despite the fact that I love her to death.
