masterofmidgets: (jack harkness appreciates your ass)
Last Sunday I did this meme! And since my flist is awesome, you guys figured out almost all of the pairings I used. But, for the vaguely curious, here are the ones nobody guessed. Mostly because they were a) vague, or b) really obscure.

5. As long as one of them owes the other, they never have to stop.

Richard Mayhew/Marquis de Carabas, Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. I can very easily see Richard talking the Marquis into a relationship covertly by turning it into a extended series of reciprocal returnings-of-favors. Since the Marquis always takes what is owed him, and doesn't like owing anyone else.

6. He understands what it's like to be the sidekick.

Dick Grayson (Nightwing)/Roy Harper (Arsenal), DCU. The original, iconic boy-sidekicks. They are so gay for each other it is barely subtext. I mean, it's DICK, so everyone is so gay for him it's barely subtext, but Roy takes it to an extra, super-gay level. They are good for major angst (Dick's Batman issues, Roy's Ollie issues and heroin abuse, the apparent huge clusterfuck that is the Outsiders), and incredibly schmoopy domestic fluff of the Lian Has Two Daddies variety. Because she SHOULD and she DOES.

10. They'd make one beautiful baby.

Zoe/Wash, Firefly (and Serenity). I was so disappointed that no one guessed this! Especially since it's an indirect quote right out the series. And it is a true, true quote, because Gina Torres is one lovely lady, and I have quite the soft spot for Alan Tudyk. And you know, I don't ship het often, but. If you fuck with my Zoe/Wash, I will fuck you up. Because they are gorgeous and sweet and totally in love and fight like real couples but resolve it in a way that actually involves them working through their issues and LOVE THIS SHIP SO MUCH. Ahem.

13. He brings him flowers from every mission.

Evan Lorne/David Parrish, Stargate: Atlantis. This ship is surpassed only by John Hart/PC Andy in total non-canonosity. I think in five seasons of SGA, Lorne and Parrish are on-screen together for a grand total of something like 10 minutes. But still, I love it! I have this working theory ([livejournal.com profile] telyanofcelore can back me up on this) that for a lot of series, you have two big pairings. And the first is the OTP - the main ship that is full of drama and angst and break-ups and mad declarations of love and insane plots to get back together and near-death snogging and all that good stuff we love oh so much. And the second pairing is the pairing of fluffy bunny love. They don't have angst and misery and suffering; they are just cute and happy and adorably married. Lorne/Parrish is my SA fluff ship. It warms my crusty bitter heart.

ETA: CAN I KILL MY ROOMMATE PLEASE? WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PEOPLE IN MY ROOM? WHY ARE THEY TALKING? *HATES*

You know what is absolutely no fun at all? When you start out a day feeling okay, but then as the day goes on, you feel more and more craptastic, until by the end of the day you are undeniably sick and miserable. Yeah.

I held up through my fiction class okay, but I was so wiped I just headed home after and didn't bother with CS lecture, and now I've pretty much given up all pretense of working on my English paper or my CS problem set in favor of wallowing like a pathetic useless thing and watching cartoons (and Keith Olbermann). I am really, really hoping I just have a cold, and not the killer death plague that's apparently been going around campus, because I have a fuckton of work to do this week and I really can't afford to be sick. *crosses fingers*

I really wanted to go hear George Saunders speak tonight, because, you know, awesome. But that has been written out of my schedule in favor of reading some comics, talking some Advil, and going to bed.
