A Sports Rant From Me? Surely You Jest!

I don't think I have ever seen a game called that horrendously. I don't know what the refs were smoking, but they need to smoke less.
It was bad enough that the game was pushed back almost two hours - according to myraid sources, a compressorizer broke and the ice melted, so they had to refreeze the whole rink? Or something? Anyway, serious fail, and we had to stand around doing nothing for an hour because they wouldn't let you leave or go to your seat. Very boring!
And the rest of the game was alright. I haven't seen that many games this season, what with being in another state, but the impression I've gotten is that we've never quite managed to gel as a team. We've got a lot of rookies, people that have either never played or never played in NM, along with a brand new coach - not just a new coach, but Randy Murphy was a player for years, and I imagine going from that mindset to a coahing mindset is a serious challenge. We've got talent, and a damn good goalie, and the few times I've seen them pull together they're a pretty tough team. They just really rarely pull it off. Tonight was no different. We weren't playing badly, but not great, a lot of sloppy passes and missed opportunities. Going into the third period we were tied, and the Sun Dogs pulled ahead about halfway through.
But man, the refs were all in with the sucking. Way to be both arbitrary and inconsistent, guys! I mean, the first period, they weren't calling anything for anyone at all, which is okay by me because the Sundogs were playing pretty clean. Then the second period, they started calling EVERYTHING, even things that never happened, on both sides. And the last period, they apparently decided, I don't know, that we killed their puppy or something, because they did nothing but calls on our side that were total bullshit.
Culminating in the end of the game. We were down 2-1, we had a power play, and in less than a two minute, we scored not once, but twice, and the refs called no goal both fucking times. And let's be clear here - these were goals I saw go into the net. I NEVER see goals go in. It has to be pretty goddamn obvious for me to notice. As far as I'm concerned, we won this game. The refs can fuck off.
On the brighter side, I really really want to write an MA AU now where the Avengers are the US Olympic hockey team. God save me.
