Going To Go Die of Heat Now
Aug. 21st, 2009 06:34 pmSO HOT OMG. Seriously, New Mexico, get with the program! It is the end of August! It should be thunderstorming every day, not 95 degrees and wretchedly bright out. This is ridiculous.
Spent the night at my mom's last night, which was fun even though she's tired and stressed from boyfriend being in the hospital still and his step-dad being an evil old creep. We dyed my hair purple and spent like an hour going through the IKEA catalogue trying to pick out the ugliest furniture. And then this morning cousin and his girlfriend came over, which was awesome since I haven't seen him in a year. We had meat waffles and a see who can tell the most insane bullshit story contest (although nothing will ever compare to the Ballad of Howie Nine-Toes as a family saga of epic fail), and then my cousin and I spent a long time talking about stuff.
He's been in therapy for a while - he had to because of drug court, but he decided to take advantage of it and try to work through some of his other issues - and it's so obvious what a difference it's made. And it means a lot to me to see him happier and getting his life together - we were super close growing up together, and I was around for a lot of the things that made him as messed up as he is, and it was...hard. For a lot of reasons. But he's working really hard now to turn things around.
And then, after that injection of Srs Bzns into my morning, hanjuuluver dragged me off to bum around Old Town all afternoon with her and her boyfriend. I've never met him before, but he seems nice and appropriately geeky, so it was fun. We went to a lot of art galleries! Because art is neat, but also because it is unbearably hot and they were all airconditioned. Also the stores selling kitcshy tourist crap and Native American jewelry, and the candy store with the really amazing truffles. And we went to the playground across the street from the art museum to lay in the grass and mess around on the swings and get into a grass fight because we are secretly twelve. Fun times, all around.
