I wish I had some way of mapping out the demographics of the academic departments here to see how the distributions skew for different majors. Because I swear, while I know there are straight guys in the English Department (my RA! My RA is very straight and very much an English major! They do exist!), every single guy I meet in my classes is gay. EVERY SINGLE ONE. And I'm left wondering if it is just that the English Department swings that way, or if it's that I take a lot of classes that overlap with gender/queer studies, or if I have some kind of queer field generator around me that makes almost all the people who want to be friends with me gay/lesbian/bi (I've never counted, but I'm pretty sure if I did a tally of my close friends, the 100% no exceptions all the time straight people would be a serious minority). It makes me happy, in that I feel a lot more comfortable talking about/writing about the kind of gender and sexuality issues I'm interested in working on when I know I'm talking to/working with people who are, if not coming at things from the same angle, at least using the same compass, as it were. (On the other hand...cute guys. Who will never be interested in me. Sigh.)
In related news I spent the 45 minutes between classes chatting with Cute Guy Who Is In All My Lit Classes about the papers we just turned in for our science fiction class, how much fun it would be to start a Fantasy Book Club on campus, and whether Sam and Dean Winchester are having sex with each other. (The consensus on that was yes.) So that was fun! And he's a creative writing emphasis too, so I'll probably be seeing more from him, aside from the four hours a day I see him now.
(OH GOD I'M GOING TO DIE TONIGHT I HAVE TO GO TO WORK AFTER I STAYED UP ALL NIGHT WRITING A SHITTY PAPER WHY AM I SO DUMB)
