Well It Makes Sense In Context, Okay

So I was all emo because I have a summer birthday, I'm going home on thursday, and I hadn't been showered, and I figured my dorm had just kinda forgotten about me because I've been a bit off the radar lately. But then a bunch of people dragged me out of my room and threw me in a cold shower. And now I am much happier. =)

I'm going to miss this dorm and it's awesome ways of awesome so much.

Oh yes. Because being tossed in a cold shower is for some reason heartwarming and special. It's very odd - like having cups of water dumped on you all day in elementary school. But it makes one happy. So the deep question here is:

Is this some sort of birth ritual, like the presence of water represents our births and so we are newly born every birthday when we get soaked, or is it just a weird tormenting-of-each-other-in-manner-of-sorority/fraternity ritual that was invented purely by accident?
