AND PEOPLE WONDER WHY 90% OF THE FANDOM SHIPS MCSHEP

What really gets me is the way John looks like he's going /cry/, but he's obviously trying /so hard/ to hold himself together for Rodney. Because he wants Rodney to know that he's /happy/ for him. Awwwww.

Luckily, Rodney and his girlfriend spend the rest of the episode trapped together in a small room, and the shocking revelation that Rodney is neurotic and deranged and, you know, /Rodney/ leads her to dump him quite quickly after.

Don't feel like sleeping yet, since I didn't get up until 3.30 today, so I started making icons. Icon making is harder than it looks, if not as hard as I expected it to be? Hopefully will have a chance to make some more Lost Souls icons once I listen a few more times and decide which bits I like best (but certainly "My bicycle has a bell!" and "You love coffee! Coffee and Jack!"), and some Superbuddies ones once I get some scans where you can read the speech bubbles. *grins*

Icons were made using textures by [livejournal.com profile] yunhe . Pictures and quote are from Stargate: Atlantis and Torchwood: Lost Souls, respectively. Up for grabs, but please comment and credit.

You know what is totally awesome? To have the day start out completely clear, blue sky, sun blazing - and about a million degrees in the shade, too - and then all of a sudden you look outside and the sky's black, thunder's rumbling, lightning flashing, and it just starts /pouring/ down rain for the next two hours. And then it does it again every night the rest of the week.

Damn, but I /love/ monsoon season. As long as our apartment isn't flooding and the parking lot isn't being turned into a mini-lake, that is, which it isn't, so we just have huge melodramatic storms and all is good.

Back to trying to finish all the back episodes of Stargate: Atlantis, which is not the most painful thing I've ever done. I love it so much, with its giant gaping plot holes and its nonsensical writing and its utter lack of character development and its complete, unmitigated crack! And Sheppard's /hair/, and McKay's sexy sexy physicist brain, and damn but they are just /married/. Honestly, Shep's about the least convincing straight guy ever, it's hysterical. So much love!

May apply for a new job on Monday. On the plus side, it would be closer to where I'm living (huge bonus for my family, I feel horrible about having to get them to drive me to the movie theater a half hour away), it would be easier - relatively, I mean, I'd get to sit down - work, and it would pay a /lot/ better. On the negative side, I'd have to lie about the fact that I'm going back to school in Sept - either say I'm going to UNM or that I'm not going back to Stanford - because they probably wouldn't hire me for a month and a half. I'm not sure how I feel about that. So stressing, very much stressing.

So, for a good bit of time when I was in high school and had no internet, I was really, obsessively into Stargate SG-1 - watched the Sci Fi channel marathons every Monday, held long rambling discussions with our roommate (my aunt's ex-girlfriend was rooming with us at the time) about how adorably sexy Daniel was before he cut his hair, I even did a class project making a Civilian's Guide To Recognizing the Goa'uld this was kind of an open-ended class. And then around the 7th season, Jack started taking a back seat, and they started introducing new characters I didn't give a damn about, and the writing/plots got less good IMO, and I just lost interest and pretty much stopped watching. I never watched Stargate: Atlantis at all, since it seemed like just a newer, shiny version of the regular Stargate for people who couldn't appreciate the awesomeness that was Jack, Daniel, Teal'c and Sam.

I'm starting to regret that now. Somehow I ended up the other day on a page of SGA slash recs, and HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO STOP READING  RODNEY/JOHN IS SO HOT. And there's snark and bad physics jokes and John's /hair/ and lovelovelove. Also John Sheppard (or, well, the actor who plays him) is a pretty pretty boy. I would be willing to put up with a hell of a lot of plot holes and silly writing just to be able to spend hours staring at him getting sweaty and blowing things up and being homoerotic at his Canadian.

So yeah. Going to watch SGA now. And maybe Supernatural, since [profile] telyanofcelore's been fangirling about it and the Wincest all over the place lately, and I generally trust her taste. I'm really behind in my pop culture, y/y?
